Yes I believe the Haltechs are the same as the Microtech's on this topic. Alot of tuners "lock" their tune so that they can give a warranty period on it usually.
Basically they know that it is all good when the car leaves them so they lock everything so that no one can make any changes, therefore the tune cannot be altered, so then they can warrant their tune. It is understandable why they do it, but I dont think it is right personally. As if you have just purchased the ECU from them. I believe Haltechs are the same unfortunately. The way I see it you have two options.
Pay the tuner to adjust your FAN settings, etc. Send your ECU back to Haltech to be reset and loose all your tuning not to mention waste the money that the tune cost you, etc. Unless you can get the code off of him, but I sincerly doubt it from the sounds of things. I dont know much about the e11 but i am sure it's pretty much the same thing just newer with more options. I tried iming u a bunch of times I wouldn't use anyone else's map, Most of the time it wont even get you close.
All you need to do is verify timing timing lite and make sure the injectors are off while you are doing this. After you are sure timing is correct, cut the fuel to 0 and slowly work your way up until it fires.
This will save you allot of time and frustration. Guys, I'm at a total loss here with a really stupid issue! I'll try to keep this short without reciting the haltech manual, trouble shooting guide, haltech forum, etc. BUT, I've searched top to bottom and cant solve my issue:.
According to Haltech this issue is directly related to using a serial to usb connector or any faulty connection method. I've tried loading a handful of different maps, different com port settings, etc. I'm really at a loss here. I bought this F10x slightly used and the previous owner swears there was never a password protected map of any kind on it I'm running a Windows XP machine with all of the latest usb and or com port drivers.
Also, I'm running Halwin v 1. The latest thing I've tried is a Keyspan usb to serial adaptor. This was suggested by Haltech support. Every thing is in sync with my com ports, etc. I really need to tune my car this weekend; any suggestions!? Please help, its very much appreciated.
You may have to get a serial card and not use a adaptor. Its sometimes cheaper to buy an old laptop from a used electronics supply that has one on it or borrow one. Already have an account? If you're still unsure, enrol anyway.

The duty cycles decreased, and it's clear the what the ECU thinks is its steady state is not consistent from rpm Increasing PI only make the system more responsive, and D would actually hurt me here, D doesn't fix distance to target issues, only the sharpness of the PI corrections.
